Rotterdam Architecture Biennale

We were asked to ‘re-form’ the ‘6000 Miles’ exhibition we had designed for The Lighthouse, for the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam. This architectural research event is about presenting knowledge, experience and thinking to a broader audience. Working within a confined area and with limited control of the ambient light, we used a very clean contrasting palette in order to make the exhibits stand out in the industrial space. We made a series of internally lit lightbox ‘islands’ for content, where the entire frame would be seamlessly lit. These were then connected with different coloured lines helping explain their relationships, the plinths becoming the ‘sea’, lit on the horizon by Emily Richardson’s film ‘Petrolia’.
