Westminster Abbey

We were approached by Westminster Abbey to design a mini exhibition, documenting the role of the Cathedral in Coronations throughout it’s history. Set in the Chapter House, this was a complicated design and install due to any panel or component not being able to touch the fabric of the building. Working closely with their conservationists and Andy Walter from Displayways, we devised a bespoke system for the 10 completely uniquely shaped alcoves. This allowed a series of die cut honeycomb board panels to ‘hover’ away from the stonework, allowing airflow to prevent the build up of a microclimate behind the display. The resulting design had to be installed with minimum disruption to what was one of the busiest periods in the Cathedrals history.
