Horniman Museum – Hair Untold Stories

We produced the visual identity, marketing and exhibition graphics for the Horniman Museum’s ‘HAIR Untold Stories’. The exhibition design was done in collaboration with Skellon Studio and was the pilot project for the newly established MAGNET (the Museums and Galleries Network for Exhibition Touring) network. This consists of twelve museums and galleries who aim to pool resources, develop curatorial expertise and share their collections with diverse national audiences, and encourage experimentation in exhibitions.

We took an illustrative approach, but without faces, allowing the viewer to potentially see themselves in the artwork. South London based Habiba Nabisubi’s beautiful illustrations entwined with the typography, linking it directly to the hair and suggesting stories emerging from different hairstyles.
